Buying locally at a farmers market not only supports your local community but it can also be a fun activity to get the entire family involved with picking out fresh fruits and veggies. In-a-Pinch Picnic:

If you are like many of us, we try to fit as many activities as we can into one day. Running from event to event doesn’t leave much time to prepare foods.  If this sounds familiar, then you have probably found yourself running into the grocery store on the way to a summer gathering and picking up something to bring.  The next time you find yourself in this situation or you just want some healthier fare, here are some ideas for an In-a-Pinch Picnic!

Here are five, fun ways your kids can make an edible, healthy snack!

Easter Menu Planning

Serving dinner in courses is a great way to get people to people to slow down when they eat and give the gut time to signal the brain to stop eating when it is full. Aim to have lots of fruit and vegetable options to fill up on!

  • The Appetizer: Eggs are a traditional part of Easter and what better way to incorporate them into your festivities than by serving delicious Smokey Deviled Egg appetizers.
  • The Salad: Start out with a large fresh salad with dark green leafy greens, tomatoes, red onions, sunflower seeds, and a homemade olive oil dressing.
  • The Main Course: Instead of serving the traditional ham, mix it up and serve roast chicken or baked salmon on a bed of whole grain brown rice or with a whole grain pasta salad loaded with veggies.
  • The Dessert: Conclude your meal with a delicious light frozen treat like Pineapple Sorbet and fresh fruit.
