High Blood Pressure in Children
High Blood Pressure in Children: Now an Increased Concern
A study of children with high blood pressure presented in the June 2018 issue of the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) Pediatrics alerted the attention of pediatricians using the new American Heart Association and American Academy of Pediatric guidelines. This study harped on the fact that the incidence of high blood pressure in children is increasing, especially among those children who are overfat, have abnormal lipid profiles, and blood sugar tests suggesting prediabetes. We highlight these risks in our LEAN Start sessions, to give parents practical nutrition and lifestyle tools to help prevent high blood pressure, the top cause of serious cardiovascular disease, from increasing in their children.
